Paul Trone

Principal Senior Geologist

Paul has 24 years of experience managing Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Remedial Investigations/Feasibility Studies (RI/FS), and Remedial Actions (RAs) at a wide variety of sites in Oregon, Washington, California, and Hawaii.  His services have benefited both public and private sector clients, covering diverse business concerns in pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, automotive, recycling, property development, transportation, petroleum, communications, public works, agri-business, food products, banking, retail, and schools.  He provided these services under state and federal oversight. He has extensive experience performing Phase I ESAs, compliance audits, Phase II ESAs, landfill assessments, UST decommissionings, and hazardous waste management.  He has mentored and trained many junior staff, supervised a site assessment group, and managed a profitable environmental department of a medium-sized consulting firm.

Paul’s experience includes all phases of corrective action at facilities where releases from above-ground and under-ground storage tanks (USTs), surface impoundments, dry wells or other waste management systems have impacted the environment. He managed the first soil resistive heating remedy in the northwest to cleanup a solvent spill in a municipal well field.

He has planned and implemented many RI/FS projects.  For example, he provided RI/FS services at a National Priorities List (NPL) site used for reprocessing oil in the Columbia River floodplain of northwest Oregon under the oversight of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Paul’s assessment, RI/FS, and remediation expertise extends to Brownfields redevelopment properties. He acquired assistance through state and federally funded Brownfields programs and prospective purchaser agreements. He prepared RI/FS work plans and managed field activities.  He implemented an interim remedial action measure (IRAM) at a dry cleaners and shopping center located in an urban renewal area.
